NOTE: Pretty much all of the club's updates are currently being posted on the DBC Facebook page - to find out more about the club beyond the basics, please visit us at https://www.facebook.com/DunbarBoardgameClub.

10 people attended the first-ever meeting of the club - including a visitor from as far afield as Perth! The games we played were Deep Sea Adventure, 6 Nimmt, Lords of Xidit, Isle of Skye, London, 7 Wonders and Lost Cities. Everyone seemed to have had a really great time, and the gaming space was perfect for us - and we have continued our adventures each Wednesday since, as well as on the occasional Monday and other meetings between regular attendees at each other's homes. Who we are: Dunbar Boardgame Club launched in February 2019 with the goal of helping gamers in East Lothian meet other gamers and play games with them. We have one simple rule: No Monopoly, please! :)

We mainly focus on the sorts of games you'll find on BoardGameGeek.com. (Here's their user-voted list of the greatest boardgames of all time, FWIW.) Whether you're into gateway games like Ticket to Ride, Carcassonne, Settlers of Catan and Sushi Go!, more complex games like Terraforming Mars, Concordia and The Lost Ruins of Arnak, co-operative games like Pandemic and Forbidden Desert, or party games like Codenames and Dixit, you're sure to find something interesting to play with someone on a club night.

Where and when we meet: We currently meet every Thursday from 7 p.m. at The Stables, the building to the right and rear of Belhaven Parish Church in Dunbar (see photo at right).

Who is welcome: Anyone and everyone! You don't need to know how to play any fancy games to come along - you just need to be willing to learn the rules of any game you don't know, to enjoy stretching your brain, and to try to enjoy yourself whether you win or lose. (We try to win the games we play, but losing a fun game is better than not playing a game at all!)

Teenage children (and near-teens) who are interested in learning how to play strategy games that make them think and expand their intellects are also very welcome to the club if accompanied by an adult. Preferably a game-playing adult - the more the merrier!

What it costs: No costs are mandatory, although if you can bring along £2.50 per session to help us with the hire of the building, we'd appreciate it! Bring some snacks and drinks if you like - tea and coffee can be made onsite at The Stables - but otherwise just bring yourself and any games you're interested in playing.
